Dato' Akbar bin Moidunny

Dato’ Akbar bin Moidunny is currently the 29th President of MAICSA, having been appointed to the position in July 2024.

He was co-opted to the Council in January 2000 and was first elected to Council in December 2001. He previously served as the President of MAICSA from May 2007 to May 2009 and has also held positions as Deputy President, Vice President, and Honorary Secretary. Presently, he holds the positions of Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee 2024, Membership Committee, Constitution Task Force, National Disciplinary Tribunal, and Regional Committee.

Dato’ Akbar serves as the Chairman of the MAICSA-Bar Council Joint Working Committee. Additionally, he represents the Institute on the Corporate Practice Consultative Forum (CPCF), the CPCF Technical Committee, and the CPCF Technical Focus Group established by the Companies Commission of Malaysia. Furthermore, he represents the Institute on the Company Secretaries Consultative Group (CSCG). In 1986, he obtained his ICSA (now known as The Chartered Governance Institute [CGI]) professional qualification from London, United Kingdom. Dato’ Akbar has held a valid practising license for the past thirty-eight (38) years.

He has been the Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the MINC Group of Companies, Malaysia, since 1986, providing corporate secretarial and governance consultancy services to over 1,000 companies.

With over 38 years of professional experience, he has been engaged in various aspects of corporate secretarial assignments including consultancy, restructuring, and due diligence for both multinational and local corporations. His clients include private and public companies. Dato’ Akbar actively participates in speaking engagements at forums on Corporate Legislation and acts as a mediator in corporate disputes.

Dato' Akbar is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and serves on the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council Malaysia.
