[formerly known as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA)]
In September 1992, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs recognised MAICSA as one of the prescribed body in Malaysia for Company Secretaries to be registered as members to fulfil their qualification under Section 235 (2) Companies Act 2016.
With the relevant years of experience, the Members of MAICSA have the privilege to practice as a Company Secretary immediately without applying for a license as they are not required by the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
Members of the Institute with more than five years of practical tax experience, either in the Government or private sector, are eligible to apply to become tax agents under Section 153(3) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

The CGI qualification is recognised for admission into post-graduate programmes offered by the Institutes of Higher Learning, locally and world-wide.
