All Fellow and Associate Members of MAICSA will need to comply with the requirements of mandatory CPD with the following exceptions:

Prolonged illness or disability | Full or Partial Exemption, depending on the nature of the illness and/or recovery period, upon application with evidence. For partial exemption, a letter of undertaking stating that he/she will fulfil the CPD requirements upon recovery from the illness or upon the lapse of the reason for which exemption has been granted. Evidence: A certificate/letter from a licensed physician or hospital Exemption applications on the basis on maternity leave will be treated in the same way as prolonged illness or disability. In such cases, a 50% reduction in the CPD hours may be given to a member who is on maternity leave in the CPD year. All applications for exemptions in this category will be considered on a case to case basis. |
Members who own or operate trading businesses where the ICSA qualification and/or CPD training are not a necessity for them. | Full or Partial exemptions upon application with evidence on a yearly basis. Evidence: A certificate from either SSM or ROB will be required to prove that the business is still ongoing and type of business operated by the member. |
Members working/residing overseas for six (6) months and above. (NEW) | Full or Partial Exemption upon application with supporting evidence. Evidence: A letter of employment detailing your position, date of appointment and how long you will be employed with the company. All applications for exemptions in this category will be considered on a case to case basis. |
All Fellow and Associate Members of MAICSA must undertake the following minimum CPD hours (effective 2019):
i) | 20 CPD hours per calendar year for Members who are in the corporate secretarial sector* (whether in-house company secretaries or company secretaries in public practice), |
ii) | 4 CPD hours per annum per calendar year for Members who are in the non-corporate secretarial sector**; and |
iii) | Members who are in the non-corporate secretarial sector, age 60 years and above are exempted from having to comply with the Mandatory CPD guidelines. |
Only applicable to 2020 and 2021 CPD requirements due to CoVID 19 pandemic.
i) | 20 CPD hours per calendar year for Members who are in the corporate secretarial sector* (whether in-house company secretaries or company secretaries in public practice) and SSM PC Holders, |
ii) | 10 CPD hours per calendar year for Members who are in the corporate secretarial sector* (whether in-house company secretaries or company secretaries in public practice) and NOT SSM PC Holders, and |

A fully waiver for member in non-corporate secretarial sector** |
