All Fellow and Associate Members of MAICSA will need to comply with the requirements of mandatory CPD with the following exceptions:

| Members who are unemployed, including full time housewives | Full Exemption in year of CPD upon application and granted with evidence. Evidence: Statutory Declaration on yearly basis. | 
| Newly elected Associate | Exempted from mandatory CPD in the year of their election as Associate. | 
| Prolonged illness or disability | Full or Partial Exemption, depending on the nature of the illness and/or recovery period, upon application with evidence. For partial exemption, a letter of undertaking stating that he/she will fulfil the CPD requirements upon recovery from the illness or upon the lapse of the reason for which exemption has been granted. Evidence: A certificate/letter from a licensed physician or hospital Exemption applications on the basis on maternity leave will be treated in the same way as prolonged illness or disability. In such cases, a 50% reduction in the CPD hours may be given to a member who is on maternity leave in the CPD year. All applications for exemptions in this category will be considered on a case to case basis. | 
| Members who own or operate trading businesses where the CGI qualification and/or CPD training are not a necessity for them. | Full or Partial exemptions upon application with evidence on a yearly basis. Evidence: A certificate from either SSM or ROB will be required to prove that the business is still ongoing and type of business operated by the member. | 
| Members working/residing overseas for six (6) months and above. | Partial (60%) Exemption of 20 CPD hours upon application with supporting evidence. Evidence: A letter of employment detailing your position, date of appointment and how long you will be employed with the company. All applications for exemptions in this category will be considered on a case to case basis. | 
All Fellow and Associate Members of MAICSA must undertake the following minimum CPD hours:
| i. | For members who are in Corporate Secretarial Practice (CSP)* but are not SSM Practicing Certificate (SSM PC) Holders:

| ii. | 4 CPD Hours per annum per calendar year for Members who are in the non-corporate secretarial sector**. | ||||
| iii. | For members who in Corporate Secretarial Practice (CSP)* with the SSM Practicing Certificate (SSM PC) holders, recognition of 20 CPD Hours for attending physical and/or online training for SSM PC Holders with a minimum of 12 CPD Hours from attending MAICSA organised physical and/or webinars and the balance of 8 CPD Hours from attending physical and/or webinars organised by the Institute or by the Institute jointly with other professional bodies or by other recognised organisations, including regulators, other professional bodies and HRDCorp training providers. |
