Recognised CPD Activities & Evidencing Your CPD

CPD is measured in learning hours. 1 CPD hour equals to 1 learning hour. The CPD hours can be obtained from the following recognised CPD learning activities. MAICSA Members are required to keep a full record of the CPD activities, as MAICSA will monitor CPD of Members by way of random selection of Members in each calendar year to ensure standards are being met.

Criteria for all the recognised CPD activities:

a.	They must be relevant to enhancement and competency of Members and
b.	The Approved Topics should cover the discipline of Accounting, Company Secretarial Practice, Corporate Governance, Finance, Human Resource, Information Technology, Law, Management, Soft Skills and Taxation.

1.	Participation in CPD courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and webinars organised by the Institute or by the Institute jointly with other professional bodies or by other recognised organisations, including regulators (eg SSM, Bursa, Securities Commission, IRB, Customs Department), other recognised professional bodies and HRD Corp Training Providers	CPD hours are allotted based on the duration of the courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and webinars.	CPD courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and webinars: Certificate of attendance with CPD hours stated OR Confirmation letter or email and details of the programme from the Organisers if they do not issue any certificate OR Copy of attendance list certified by the Organisers
2.	E-learning	CPD hours are recognised based on only 50% of the duration of the CPD activities (eg for a 4 hour e-learning event, only 2 CPD hours will be credited) and a maximum of 4 CPD hours per calendar year are allowed for participating in e-learning.	E-learning : Report on login and details of e-learning Copy of the completion of assessment if any
3.	In-house training organised by Members’ organisations	A maximum of 8 CPD Hours per CPD year will be granted for attendance at relevant in-house training events organised by members’ organisations with external speakers and/or MAICSA.	Copy of the Certificate of attendance Copy of attendance list certified by the company
4.	Relevant tertiary or postgraduate courses	Maximum 20 CPD hours per calendar year Applicable to Members who are currently pursuing Certificated courses, diplomas or degrees at recognised institutions of higher learning. For example, if a Member is currently pursuing a diploma, degree or postgraduate course, the duration of which is more than 1 year, the Member can claim 20 CPD hours for each calendar year. This is not applicable if the Member has completed the tertiary education or post graduate course before the current CPD Year i.e 2015. 5.	Presenting seminars or conferences Forming part of a panel at seminars, conferences or for a technical dialogues Chairing seminars or conferences	CPD hours can be obtained by presenting, chairing or forming part of a panel for accredited seminars or conferences or technical dialogues as per criteria of recognised CPD activities. CPD hours are credited based on the number of hours scheduled and the number of hours spent in preparation for seminars and / or conferences organised by the Institute or other recognised organisations. (Note: Repeated Topics are not applicable). Permitted CPD hours for preparation are as follows: Presenting a seminar or conference: cap at 3 CPD hours per seminar Forming part of panel: cap at 2 CPD hours per seminar Chairing a seminar: cap at 1 CPD hour per seminar Example: A Member is a speaker on an Approved topic and the presentation time is 1.5 hours. The permitted CPD for the preparation work for the seminar is 3 hours Hence, the CPD hours awarded : Presentation time + Preparation time = 1.5 hrs + 3 hours = 1.5 CPD hours + 3 CPD hours TOTAL : 4.5 CPD hours	Certificate of Participation which indicates the details of the session, duration and role of the Member OR Confirmation letter from the Organiser with details of events, duration and role.
6.	Lecturing on a relevant subject/topic.	1 CPD hour equals to 1 hour lecturing A maximum of 10 CPD hours for lecturing on a relevant subject. Lecturing on the same subject can only be claimed once per calendar year.	Confirmation letter from the relevant faculty of the educational institution.
7.	Writing Technical Articles on Approved topics for publication.	A maximum of 5 CPD hours for writing technical articles on Approved topics and published in recognised publications. The CPD hours can only be claimed in the year that the article is published. Creditable publications: Relevant publication of professional bodies and regulators. Relevant publications with the ISDN number.	A copy of the published article in the publications of professional bodies and regulators OR A copy of the published article in publications with ISDN number
8.	Writing Books on Approved topics for publication.	A maximum of 20 CPD hours for writing books on Approved topics and must be published. The CPD hours can only be claimed in the year that the book is published.	A copy of the published book with the ISDN number.
9.	Research papers on Approved topics.	A maximum of 5 CPD hours on Approved Topics can be claimed. 10.	Attendance at meetings as a member of a Committee, Working Group or Task Force of MAICSA, technical committees of other professional bodies, regulators and statutory bodies. Attendance at Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings of MAICSA.	A maximum of 5 CPD hours per calendar year The CPD Hours accredited for each meeting (whether General meeting or Committee, Working Group or Task Force meeting) is based on the duration of the meeting (1 hour equals to 1 CPD Hour), subject to a maximum of 5 CPD Hours for per calendar year. 11.	Attendance at Executive Committee meetings as a member of the Executive Committee of the MAICSA Toastmasters Club.	A maximum of 2 CPD hours per calendar year	Copy of attendance list of the meeting certified by an ExCo member.
12.	Acting as a Mentor for the MAICSA Internship Scheme.	5 CPD hours per month and a maximum of 10 CPD hours per calendar year.	Written confirmation letter from MAICSA.
