Under the ICSA Bye-Laws, which were implemented on 1st January 2000,The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA), became a Division of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) with full autonomy over its affairs, including the setting of examinations and the admission of members.
The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) subsequently changed its name to The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) on 16 September 2019.
TODAY MAICSA, as a Division of CGI, continues to have greater flexibility to explore and develop education programmes to meet the needs of the local environment, as well as continue to conduct the qualifying examinations of The Chartered Governance Institute. The historical development has evolved and positioned MAICSA in good stead to meet the challenges and opportunities for the profession as Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional.
